At the house, I really love the layout of our kitchen – once we get it cleaned up and organized, it’ll be a very efficient place to cook and also a nice gathering spot for when company comes over. There’s a lovely skylight, giant windows – during the day you really don’t need to have any lights on in the entire upstairs, and the kitchen is no exception.
The appliances are all rather old, being all original to the house when it was built in 1984, but they still, more or less, work. Unfortunately, the one thing that we cannot do, and that we used to do all the time back in the condo, is broil various meats.
Back at the condo, we also didn’t have any dedicated outdoor space – sometimes we would have a little cookout in the parking lot, but come on, that’s just no fun. A friend who lived nearby would have us over to his place, where he had 2 decks, and we would grill, and that was a fun time. I miss that!
Out here we have the space and since we don’t have a broiler, the only thing that makes sense to do is get a good grill. In this case I have ordered a Weber Genesis II LX S-340 – this thing is basically a cook top for outdoors and can be used year round. It’s a bit pricey, but it’s built like a tank, can cook for 2 or 10, and should be a pleasure to grill with.
It gets delivered today, so I’m thinking tonight we feast!
